Perhaps in addition to dulling the intellect, numbing the libido, and breaking the heart, Edivoxetine extracts a little piece of the soul. Kind of like the Devil went down to Georgia in a capsule.

Well there goes my Eli Lilly stock. lol

For a drug to be approved by the FDA, it needs to show positive results in at least two of the trials. But there could be a dozen trials, and 10 could be negative and 2 could be positive- you're approved!

They prescribe it for a variety of pain-related ailments.  But I'm with you- why choose this drug over others in a case such as yours? I'd like to understand the rationale. Surely there are drugs available for pain that don't profoundly alter the brain.

Has anyone experienced severe leg pain and akathisia while on Cymbalta? I reinstated as most of you may know, and am now on day 4. I am at the equivelant of 7mgs. How can so little affect me so bad...?! The pain and akathisia are just two of the reasons I decided to stop. I don't know if to quit at this point and suffer more emotionally or taper down a little and see if that helps. Someone please help!! Thanks in advance!!

Hi LM3G.

The restless legs are said to be anxiety-related, so if you have a way of reducing your anxiety, that should help. You might consider (though I'm not advocating) a benzodiazepine (like Ativan), and that would probably help until you get tapering again. The benzos are addictive too, and come with their own 'discontinuation syndrome'.

And yes, I got leg pains. In my thigh muscles and shin bones while I was on Zombalta.

Are you stable on the 7 mg- have your withdrawal symptoms subsided?

Sooner of later (there's no perfect time), you will have to take the hand-off and crash through between the Tackle and Middle Linebacker of team Zombie!!  Excuse the football metaphor.

Do you plan to wait until the New Year to resume tapering?

lm3g, the pain and akathisia are side effects of the cymbalta (as you stated) and the longer it takes you to taper the longer they will last. BUT on the flip side the faster the taper the shorter the akathisia (the pain depends on what it is due to) but the worse the withdrawal. Just my opinion you might a well start removing beads again. I would start with just 1 or 2 beads a day. This should give you minimal withdrawal if any. I hate to say this but you may just have to grin and bear it for a while while you finish up. On a side note, people suffering from stress (and that sure includes you!!) release more magnesium and calcium from there body. Magnesium and calcium are essential for proper muscle function. Many people find muscle releif by taking 100 mg of magnesium with 100 mg of calcium three times a day. The cheap varieties can be hard on the stomach so be sure and buy the 'amino acid chelated" form. It is more readily absorbed and very easy on the tummy. Good luck.

Ok thank you so much, I had bever heard of anyone else that got pain from this crap! I decided today to start removing beads again, I started with 3 and will see how I do, so far my leg pain is much less. Now if I can manage to taper off and not become an emotion wreck I'll be in business (wishful thinking maybe) I just know I have to come off this stuff, it may have helped me cope at one point but it no longer serves me a purpose. I do take Klonopin and when I am done with this taper I plan on tapering very, very slowly from that. The Akathisia I never had before the Zombalta (I like calling it that)it makes me a zombie! I have powder magnesium but I find it does upset my stomach, it makes me sleepy but my stomach pain is awful. I will tinker with the dosage and also add calcium. Thank you both so very dearly, I feel better knowing I have support..

LM3G- I would get flu-like symptoms, the kind that make your joints and muscles hurt. Lots of muscle and joint pain. It all went away!!

If you slow taper from 7 mg at 1 extra bead per day, the overt physical symptoms will likely be gone when the beads are gone.

Stay strong!

Thismoment- Thank you! I managed to get some sleep last night, so that was great! I removed one extra bead today and will continue this way.. Not in much pain today thank goodness... So do you think the withdrawal stuff will subside when I'm down to zero beads or does that typically take longer? Have a great night :) Thanks for your ongoing encouragement and word of wisdom!!

LM3G I think the 'overt' physical symptoms like brain zaps, flu-like, nausea, etc will be mostly gone when the beads are done. The more subtle 'not feeling like my old self' or 'feeling insulated and slightly remote from my body' sensations (if you have them), will diminish over subsequent weeks and months.

Everybody is different, and hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones and breeze through it! But this drug is serious nasty business, and this forum and the tsunami of outrage on the internet bears this out!

How many days to go to zero?

Thismoment- I will be at zero in 32 days if I stay at this pace. I am feeling pretty good today, nightmares last night but I know it's because of the withdrawal. Then I have to feel stable enough to start my Klonopin taper. I know that if I can get through this I can do anything, I have always been a determined woman and never thought I would ever be at the mercy of a drug!  Have a great day, tty soon :)

LM3G- glad you're having a good day!

I agree with Equuswoman, it's one bead and one second at a time. And when people talk about living in 'the moment', that's what it means: it's where reality exists, and it's the only place it exists. All the rest is either past or future, and neither of those exists.

Therefore, if you command the moment, you direct the course of your future.

On a less philosophical note, you mentioned Klonopin, a benzodiazepine. It's probably best to be completely off the Cymbalta before withdrawing from the Klonopin (but I'm not a physician, just an ex-drug addict).  Withdrawing from the two simultaneously might be confusing because if you got a nasty discontinuation symptom, you wouldn't know which drug to address. (But talk to the doctor about this).

All the best to you!

Yes Equuswoman, we will ♥♥ Thank you so much for your sincere reply... I hope today is going as good as it can for you!!

Thismoment, Thank you  ever so much for your kind words. I am waiting until stable off the Cymbalta before my Klonopin taper. My Dr. wanted me to do both but I put my foot down and said no. I have been on Klonopin for some time and know the dangers of going too quick or tapering it with other drugs.. I have learned that living in the moment is all we can do, although I admit I future trip and get anxious over the unknown sometimes. I have to live in the moment or I get too worked up.

Cyberhugs to all!!

To anyone new to this forum or to this thread:

There is a wonderful law firm in California that xman learned about and told us about in a different thread. They has taken on Cymbalta withdrawal...."discontinuation syndrome"..... on our behalf.....on behalf of not just those of us who come here to this forum for support, but on behalf of all those who have suffered, are still suffering, from the nightmare effects of getting off this poison.

They have seen what this drug does first-hand....someone the firm knows personally went through the hard, extended withdrawal hell that we are dealing with!

Contact them, please!

Here is the link to the notice they've just posted to this forum:
