Ginny here, I want to know if anyone knows how many beads are in the 60mg of Cymbalta. I assume 60. Is this right?

Not necessarily. Mine had 200. Others as high as 400 or more. I am afraid you just have to break down and count them. lol  I believe that some of the variability depends on whether you got the Eli Lilly version from the USA or purchased an off brand internationally over the internet.

I've still got some of the generic 60 mg...manufactured in India by Citron......I'll get one out and count how many are in there....my bet is that it differs by manufacturer....

I remember ages ago we got in this discussion and several members counted their beads. I think we came up with 5 or 6 different counts.

I just thought maybe someone on here may have already counted them. I keep thinking 60 mgs mean 60 beads thus 56 days to go. Guess not. Oh well, at least I'm making progress. My pills are generic and it says Duloxetine HCL DR on the bottle. The pill has the name TEVA and then 7544?  Today my capsule ripped and when I popped in my mouth a few beads slipped out. Ooops.

So far so good. Now that I'm taking them daily and weaning off one bead at a time I have less of the weird head thing I get. For the first two days I was really sleepy so I took a nap as I don't work any longer. I'm lucky that way I guess. Still feeling very relieved to have found out what was happening to my body and brain. It's bad enough having brain fog with the fibromyalgia, I didn't need more. LOL ..........Sending love and prayers to all of you, Ginny

Hi Ginny,

Welcome to the forum.  I'm a bead counter too; down to 10 beads a day from the 20mg capsule (190 beads). No nausea, few brain zaps, some anxiety, but I'm almost done with Cymbalta. :)

Fishinghat also knows a lot about bead counting.. Equuswoman is bead counting too; removing 1 bead a day.  You may want to read her posts.  You’ll probably hear from her soon.  There’s a lot of good advice on this forum. You’re not alone.  Sometimes I just read the post to help me through whatever I’m feeling and get out of my own head.

(Tip: Hold the bottom of the capsule and twist off the top slowly. The beads can burn going down your throat without the capsule.)

Stay in touch.

Read so many painful stories on here and offering others support while trying to heal myself from cymbalta and other antidepressents.

Good Morning To All, I'm going to count my beads today. I had a rough day yesterday and I'm thinking of changing some things around but first I want to ask a question. Here's the story LOL I was taking the 60 mg every other day. So I think that is when my symptoms got worse. I thought I was weaning off in a good way. Now, since I heard from my Dr. I am taking 60 every day and dropping a bead. Today I'm up to limiting 5 beads. Could, having gone to one 60mg every day now, be causing side effects too. I can't remember what I felt like when I started taking it 4 or 5 years ago. I know that you have side effects when you first start taking meds.

I didn't sleep well last night. My concerns about what this is doing to me and not fully understanding it kept my mind too busy to sleep well. Also feel anxious about it. I'm thinking that I should take less, like a 30 mg on one day and a 60 on another since my body was already weaning off of it. Does any of this make sense to ANYONE.

Love and Blessing to all of you, Ginny

Like a Family Member, I just counted my beads and it looks like there are about 250. I stopped at 200 and just guessed at the rest. I can't believe there are so many of these crappy little things. Thanks for your posting. It helped.

Hi Ginny, I am taking Duloxetine HCL DR too, but mine must be by a different manufacturer because each capsule only has 12 beads in it.  Much easier for counting, but probably will be a choppier drop for me.  I am also having problems sleeping.  I take meds to help me sleep (Diazepam/Valium and Amitryptaline/Neurontin), but I have had to increase my Amitryptaline slightly to get better results.  Unfortunately I still have a cold, so not being able to breathe through my nose doesn't help either!  Every night I pray for a restful sleep as I know it is the best medicine out there!

Hugs to you.

Carole
