Re: Cymbalta Side Effects
Tell your friend Cymbalta is not indicated for fibromyalgia, Your friend's Dr. has been listening to a lying Lilly rep.

Re: Cymbalta promotion?
I get quite a bit of business from Oncologist with Cymbalta. I promote it for hot flashes- Effexor had some positive studies so I piggy back on those. I only call on a handful but I get about 300-400 scirpts a month from them. I also call on some orthopods because there is some evidence that front loading Cymbalta before surgery can help with pain afterwards. The evidence comes from other drugs but the concept is the same. I'm just entering that market but that is another 50-100 scripts a month. Haha that is why I'm the top rep in the nation with Cymbalta and have been for the last 2 years.
Other then that I call mainly on psych's, neurologist, pain specialist and a few Rheums.

Re: Cymbalta?
Cymbalta hasn't proved itself to be a great antidepressent, many of my docs have tried it, and haven't been impressed.. it does help for certain types of neuropathic pain... However tolerabilty is an issue... about 1/4 of people experience severe nausea...

Re: DOES CYMBALTA CAUSE WEIGHT GAIN
I am a rep for Lilly and used to take Cymbalta. Yes- I lost weight- lots of energy. The nausea if you don't take the dose at the SAME TIME EVERY DAY became unbearable for me. (Please don't take this as a slam-as I am the loyalist of the loyal-bleed Lilly red-Uncle Eli lovin person). The 3 weeks it took to get off of Cymbalta was very bad. My doctor put me back onto an SSRI- after which I have gained a small amount of weight.
Good Luck-

Lilly keep on hiring those naive sales reps right out college with their english major degree and brainwash them to death. The truth hurts doesn't it sometimes Sidney.
I agree with you. Cymbalta may be the most understudied drug on the market for all the claims they make. Are they sure it does not cure cancer too? Listening to Lilly reps, you would think that the product was the end all drug for all ailments.
The Cymbalta reps should be embarrassed with all the bullshit they tell the doctors. I have doctors that give me updates on what they have to say. Everytime the doctors ask the reps for studies to back up their crazy claims, they never do. It is all part of the culture at Lilly. Lie to the doctors until they call you on it. Then keep telling the doctors that the information is forthcoming soon.
I almost feel sorry for these brainwashed reps for the crap they are told to say to doctors. Anyone with any common sense knows that this product is the biggest piece of shit on the market.
I see this product being yanked within the next couple of years when more people end up with severe liver disease. Yes, I said liver disease, and yes I sell Effexor XR. It is my responsibility to tell every doctor and patient I can about your dangerous product. My message is much more powerful than your bullshit marketing.
Lilly should be ashamed of themselves for exposing the public to this dangerous product. I guess that is why doctors call Lilly--WE LIE LILLY.

I can't prove it but I'm having a good guess that it was caused by the Cymbalta .
I can't believe that they can get away with it , a I wonder how many people have lost their lives from taking this CRAP .. & their families have no idea !.. OMG very unhappy

They (the pharmco giant) do not tell their reps everything so they will have plausible deniability when dealing with the docs and living with the guilt of pushing a drug with such a nasty, evil chemistry. YUCK--makes me sick. A colleague works in ortho and told me almost ALL of the pts. in with knee replacements etc. are on crapalta. OMGoodness if I wasn't feeling nauseous before, I most certainly am now!

There is a wonderful law firm in California that xman learned about and told us about in a different thread. They has taken on Cymbalta withdrawal...."discontinuation syndrome"..... on our behalf.....on behalf of not just those of us who come here to this forum for support, but on behalf of all those who have suffered, are still suffering, from the nightmare effects of getting off this poison.
They have seen what this drug does first-hand....someone the firm knows personally went through the hard, extended withdrawal hell that we are dealing with!
Contact them, please!
Here is the link to the notice they've just posted to this forum:
