Hello Everyone! Thought I would give a quick update. Just when I thought I would start feeling better, I got really sick with a virus/flu. I am just now starting to feel a little normal again. I still have some issues with my equilibrium and I am wondering if that is something that I have to live with. I have an appointment this week with my psych doctor. I think he is going to have to increase my zoloft. I have noticed some anxiety these past few days. Does anyone know if anxiety will cause you to feel dizzy all the time. You would think I would know that! lol

Today I had the worse thing happen and it caused me to be shaky and really upset. I was driving with my daughter and we were stopped at a light. I looked both ways and proceded to turn and next thing you know I have a woman in front of my car. I did not hit her, but it shook both of us up really bad. My daughter said that the lady saw me getting ready to turn and walked right in front of my car. Not sure what her motive was, but I am still shaken up about it. :-(

So good to hear from you Navywife!

My equilibrium / balance was definitely impaired...either by the poison itself, or as part of withdrawal....also my hand-eye coordination, depth perception /vision and reflex time....

The dizziness was part of the worst days of withdrawal.....But I don't think it's been part of the anxiety / panic I've had before cymbalta...

I started yoga classes last month....and in just that time I've noticed a huge improvement in, recovery of, my balance, reflexes, hand-eye coordination, etc....

My vision remains messed up, however....

Thanks for asking. I just posted an update under "How to Get Support". It has been tough lately.

Day 7 cold turkey and I'm so dizzy, uncoordinated, have blurred vision so on and so forth.  Maybe your dizziness is related to something around that.. from what I've read it lasts awhile.

Hi Sodone....the dizziness was one of the worst symptoms for me.... I'm so sorry you've got it so bad....

are you taking any vitamins and supplements? The basics for a lot us us seem to be a daily vitamin, B-complex and omega 3.....

if you haven't already, check out the "nutritional support" forum.....

Also, you might want to try ginger for the dizziness ....it helped me a lot with that and nausea....a slice of fresh root brewed as tea ... Or chewed on straight....ginger tea from the health or vitamin store, ginger ale (although it's not as strong as the other forms).....or even ginger spice from your cabinet....I licked it straight off the palm of my hand in desperate moments....

I started the weaning process in September. I think this is still from coming off cymbalta!

Thanks for the feedback on supplements.. I have Omega 3 and vitamins and I have one of those protein drinks (a low glycemic trusted holistic brand with Chia seed, etc - not just a commercial work out builder although some of those aren't too bad either.) Definitely will try the ginger etc.  I picked up ginger ale yesterday.

But.. .

Today sucks.  I'm feeling very down.  Scarily so...

Hang in their Sodone, you're in the hardest part of the process.....in fact, I'm downright jealous that you've been able to get to the store! You're doing great!

I quit cold turkey, and my own experience was that the first month was awful, with the first week to 10 days the "awfulest"......I was pretty much bed-bound....a friend came to see if I was still n the land of the living, brought me food, and cooked for me....well, made clear soups..as no food wld stay down....also, the mood swings were huge...and cld happen in an instant....

Then I started to have good hours, then days....and the symptoms mostly began to fade....with relapses every few days.....

You've got the basic supps covered....what other symptoms are you dealing with? Has the ginger ale helped the dizziness, or are more suggestions needed?

Navywife43. .Glad to see your post..Oh my goodness I would be shaken up also if someone, all of a sudden, was standing in front of my car...Everyone is ok, and thank God..

I agree with Fishinghat on the dizziness. .It's difficult to tell what it's from after being hit with the flu/virus. .

There is lightheadedness associated with anxiety..Dizziness on the other hand is way too vague of a term...It's the dizziness you feel just lightheadedness or vertigo (room spinning)?

I would keep an eye on it and if it's more of a vertigo experience it could be related to the virus to an inner ear infection and should be checked out by a physician...You may also be weak from the flu..

Please take care and keep us posted..:)

NavyWife, how are you feeling now? Has the dizziness passed?

I just reread you message...and realized that you're also having some equilibrium problems.....I, too, was having equilibrium troubles...loss of balance, poor hand-eye coordination, crappy reflex times, etc.... I started a yoga class last month, not for those issues, but just to try to get some strength back....low and behold....the yoga seems to have improved all the equilibrium related stuff almost completely..... Maybe it's something that cld be helpful to you?

Also, dizziness and equilibrium problems don't combine too well with driving....please be careful.... :-)

Thanks everyone for you messages! I had an appointment today and the doc has upped my dosage on Zoloft. I am hoping I will even feel better once it gets in my system. I have been "on edge" for a week or so. Also, I thought about it and I am not having dizziness but more like off balance. I am not having spinning rooms or anything like that so that is why I think it is more equilibruim issues. Also, my right hand has been throbbing where my knuckles are and that whole area. It stinks because I manage an internet business and I am on the computer typing most of the day. Oh well, hopefully this shall pass too.

It's good to hear from you, NW! And good to know that you're getting back to stability without the cymbalta, just the help of the Zoloft. You've come a long way and struggled a lot .... Congratulations! (You may in the future feel ready and able to taper down or off the Zoloft.....but that's something for later!)

As I mentioned above I was also left with some equilibrium problems....which were scaring me.... I started yoga, and it really is helping...with that and the anxiety.....both the once a week class and the several exercises I'm practicing at home.... Have you considered trying it?

Also, could it be that your hand/knuckle thing is due to inflammation? Inflammation is one of the (rare) after effects of withdrawal... For example, I had a soreness that wandered through different joints.... Now I've been left with optic neuritis...inflammation of the nerve.... I'm using ibuprofen, warm and / or cold compresses (depending on what my eyes seems to "want") and magnesium and several supplemts for inflammation and eye health....

The heat or cold might help you, and magnesium, as well as ibuprofen ( which I bet you're already doing).... But Epsom salt soaks are also good for inflammation and sore joints/muscles....

Navywife43. .Glad you went to your doctor..

So it's more of an off balance feeling you have, and no room spinning..This could be anxiety related or your body getting back to normal after the flu/virus also...

It's good you are trying to regulate on Zoloft. .

Please keep us posted on you progress.

Thoughts and prayers to you....

Fishinghat he put me on 150mg. I asked him about feeling off balance and he did say it could be anxiety related. FiveNotions, I haven't tried yoga I will definitely look into it! Also, I am taking motrin for the inflammation and pain.  :)

NW43, that is a good dosage, same as mine. I just wanted to be sure he wasn't one of those crazy drs who might put you on 300 mg/day!! You never know about those docs. They self medicate you know!!!  lol
