I stepped down to 30 from 60 a week ago. Also coming off a short course of prednisone at the same time. Is this why I am exhausted, yet can't sleep, have headache, feel unreal and sort of dizzy? I forgot to take pills for 5 days last fall and had dizziness and nausea, but it didn't start till day 5. Seems weird I'd get symptoms after 7 days with just a lower dose when it took 5 days cold turkey.

Hi mandala

I think the 5-day wait for symptoms following cold turkey does seem long. I would expect w/d symptoms within 2 days cold turkey, and the same for cutting the dosage in half from 60 to 30 mg. Maybe you're one of the lucky ones whose withdrawal symptoms won't be nasty! Cross your fingers!

One of the major side-effects of ceasing prednisone is 'unusual fatigue or weakness'. This symptom, however, could come from either drug, or both.

Best wishes for short and sweet discontinuation, and welcome to the forum.

Hi Mandala, welcome!

i think this could be withdrawal.....I was on 60 mg for 7-8 years, and then quit cold turkey...the first week off the stuff I felt just fine....then, when withdrawal hit I was clueless, as I was told there was no such thing....

How long were you on cymbalta? For what condition? And likewise the prednisone, what condition, what dosage and how many days was the "short course"?

The step down you made is a large one....tapering, using the bead counting approach, would be easier on your system... I'll let others here tell you how to do it, my only experience is with cold-turkey, and I wouldn't recommend that to anyone!

We'll do everything we can to help! Keep us posted!
