I decreased my daily dose from 90 mg to 60 mg on May 2nd because my life circumstances have improved and I think I can get along on my own. I am wondering how long I should wait to decrease to 30 mg and then to bead counting (which I had never heard of before this site). So far my symptoms are sore neck, leg cramps and unstoppable sugar/carb consumption. A couple of my symptoms on the drug have remained the same - sweating and fatigue.

I am working with my doctor, but would appreciate any guidance from people have gone through this and lived to tell the tale.

Thanks.

Hi Burger

Welcome!

If you are stable at 60 mg that's great, and you could begin your bead-counting taper from there. Plan to taper off over 90 days by removing beads from the capsule each day as you go. Here's an ideal example (reality is different because I dont know the number of beads in your 60mg capsule):

If the capsule has 180 beads in it, divide that by 90 days and you get 2 beads per day. So, day one take out 2 beads, day two take out 4 beads, day three take out 6 beads and so on to day 90 (on day 90 there will be just 2 beads remaining). Should the withdrawal symptoms become difficult, stop removing beads and stay at your last dosage until you feel stable enough to continue- could be several days.

Below 5 mg toward the end, you may have to go slower, as symptoms could get stronger at this point.

That's an example of bead counting. For that regimen you would need 45 capsules of 60 mg, and also 45 empty gel caps you can get at the pharmacy or a health food store.

Any questions?
