FN
This excerpt is from the last article- Discontinuing Cymbalta.
"A one-page summary on dicontinuation “merely reports that in only a few trials were the doses tapered, and then only over two weeks. Lilly’s response may well be limited because neither the company nor the government has adequately studied how to discontinue patients comfortably and safely, or how to manage those patients in which withdrawal symptoms are severe or persistent.”
The upshot: ISMP concludes by writing that “a major lapse has occurred in the FDA-approved information for patients about the risks of stopping duloxetine. The information for prescribing physicians is somewhat better, but still inadequate about counseling patients; instructions for an adequate taper regime are omitted entirely. Furthermore, a major gap exists in our scientific understanding of the incidence and management of withdrawal syndrome cases that are severe and persistent.”"

Yeah, that last article, esp. the quote TM noted, was yet another eye opener..... like I've said before, there are special seats in Hell reserved for the Eli Lilly gang.....

Wow. Those really are great articles to read, from good sources. I am slowly tapering from 60mg (I currently take out 90 beads from the 60mg pill) and it is going well, I have a headache today but that's to be expected, otherwise, no major breakdowns since I started the gradual approach (2mg/week). My eyes were opened reading this to how serious tapering is. I have had a few panic attacked that were very abnormal for me and I am starting to think Cymbalta was the cause of them, not my depression...although I didn't have as many as mentioned in the articles.
Further, I am worried about relapsing after withdrawal, and the first link had some good points about that, as quoted below:
