This article is from Turin University, Italy. The University has a neat web application that's designed to be "a discussion tool between teachers and students at Medicine and Chirurgy department at the Turin University. . ." I was sifting through new research, and this popped up ... thankfully, in English ;)

----------------------------
A bit technical, but worth at least skimming ... good info, seems to be more "up to speed" on what we're really dealing with here ..

Read so many painful stories on here and offering others support while trying to heal myself from cymbalta and other antidepressents.

Found it....it's under "How to Find Support", just posted something on there, therefore it should be upfront and center......

I can't figure out where the speech problem is.  Is it in my voicebox or my brain?  Since the swallowing is obviously in the throat, is that where the serotonin syndrome is too?  Relating to too much serotonin and hence, the lax muscle tone.  Doctors don't really know.

It's totally your brain, Blackbird ... serotonin is key ... the brain .. the CNS ... controls every single body system/ function ... and serotonin is one of the key neurotransmitters ... if the serotonin level / regulation in your brain is messed up, depending on which part of the brain it's impacting at any given time, the body function that that particular part of the brain controls is messed up ...

The CNS / brain controls the swallowing function / reflex ... I'll see if I can find a research article with a picture of that part of the brain and showing how serotonin in involved ...

Thanks five notions!  Speech is a little better, but still very slow.  It's been 7 months since off Crapalta.  I'm 64, and so afraid this is permanent.  It's a living hell everyday, not communicating.  But swallowing is getting better so maybe there is SOME hope.
