i have never encountered anyone from the UK that ever sounded like they were in a panic about anything. always cool calm and collected. american tv needs to stir everyone into a frenzy because its good for ratings, which means $$$$ - more viewers mean higher fees for ads. of course, you knew that i am sure.
americans are high strung anyway. everything has to be a disaster around here or we'll lose interest. we have the attention span of a gnat.
i enjoy watching skynews int'l via internet - except for the segment where commentators go over the front pages of the day's newspapers. while sky seems more straight forward for a murdoch production, his papers are rather sensational. just as his news "products" in the US like fox news. the exception is the wall street journal, my fave - however he just bought ot, he could still destroy it in teh future.
the public tv station out of daytona beach, FL also provides news in english from france 24, newsline (tokyo) and RT (russsia today). RT actually employs american "journalists" and broadcasts out of wash dc. however, one must understand it is filtered by the "putin administration" - as a result you get a decidedly different angle on the ukrainian conflict. i don't have cable/satellite so i can't watch al jazeera america. used to watch the int'l version over internet. yet again another perspective. i like that.
