I am new here - been lurking since I decided to come off of this crap.  I was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme a few years ago which caused neuro & nerve damage.

Anyways - I've been on this stuff at 60mg since the beginning of the summer with no benefits so told my Dr I wanted off.  Dropped me from 60 to 30 immediately.

I missed one dose and let's just say I had to call my husband home (in 25 years this is only about the 2nd or 3rd time I've done that).  So now I'm doing this beading thing I see you all talk about with the 30mg.

I'm good - brain-wise - until around 3pm then crash and really have issues with focusing.  I take my med at night because it makes me tired.  But is this normal?  I know in a few weeks when I have no more (I was given a 14 day supply - no refills) but I'm trying to prepare myself and my husband.  We are getting better about me walking away and him getting angry because I get "lost" - LOL.  With a farm and 3 kids at home and the holidays..... yeah you get the picture.

Thanks for everything!  Some days I need to just read stuff so I know I'm not crazy!!

Dana

Hi Dana, welcome! Bravo for getting off the poison!!!

That drop from 60 mg to 30 mg pretty much put you and your brain into cold turkey withdrawal ... but it sounds like you've stabilized (well, until your 3 pm "crash," anyway ) ... and you're bead counting ... all good ...

My suggestion, a strong suggestion, is to get another Rx for the Cymbalta ... if you're going to bead count properly, and give your brain and body lots of time to adjust and start re-learning how to regulate their own serotonin level, you need to spread this out over longer than 14 days....

Your husband, your children, and the farm ... all deserve to have you go through this process ... and come out on the other side ... with as little struggle and suffering as possible ...

If you have to, if your doc isn't supportive, and/or doesn't know about or believe in the bead counting, just let him/her think you've decided to go back on it at 30 mg ... get the RX, and keep on bead counting ... then, once you're off the stuff, tell your doc. Yeah, it's a bit "nefarious" ... but others here have had to use this approach, and they're glad they did ... :)

On a different note, are you taking any basic vitamins and supplements? The ones most of us here used/still use are: multi-vitamin, B complex, Omega 3 fish oil, and chelated magnesium. (If you take the magnesium, check this list first to see if it interacts with any other meds you're taking ...

Keep posting to let us know how you're doing!

Welcome Desacco. One thing is for sure....you are not crazy. Yes many people are made sleepy by this type of medicine but not usually during withdrawal. Consider yourself lucky. Most can't sleep at all. Normally this is the point where I would recommend staying at your current dosage until you settle down but with only 14 days of pills left you just don't have a choice. I hope your husband understands that this is the medicine causing your problems and not you. He just has to be patient.

Keep us posted on how you are doing and have patience.

Welcome Dana!

I agree with your trying to get another RX so that you can safely bead count down...

It will make life much more bearable for you, your hubby and your kids!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome to the forum Dana,

With Fivenotions and Tfl, about getting another prescription even if it means that you have to tell the doc that you don't want to get off.

This way you can withdraw with less side effects.

Keep posting, we are here for you. Whatever the questions, someone will have an answer for you. And don't forget to check the Follow this topic at your upper right side, you will receive an instant e mail. Easy to get lost here when we are not used to it.
