Hi - So happy to find this site.  I am looking for some general guidelines with discontinuation symptoms.  I was prescribed Lyrica for the pain for my tailbone injury that happened almost six months ago.  It didn't work so my doctor put me on Cymbalta.  After three weeks of side effects and no pain relief Dr. wants me to start weaning off of it.  I am hoping that after three weeks it will be fairly easy. Can you tell me what I can expect?  My Cymbalta side effects started piling up one at a time and have been adding up. They include fatigue, headaches, restlessness, inability to sleep, some numbness in extremities and my mouth, skin feeling prickly with goosebumps, muscle twitching at night, night sweats, dry mouth.  The only side effect that went away after the first week was diarrhea.   I am 49 y/o and I am on 60mg. Any feedback is appreciated.

5 months on cymbalta, scary side effects, to get help and to return the favor if I can.

Welcome SD,

In my opinion, three weeks is short and if it was me I would stop the build up of Cymbalta right away.

Cold turkey, maybe a few days, a week, of incomfort. I don't see the use of building up and have more trouble getting off.

Others may have different opinions. Stand by, others will chime in, I am glad you are getting off this crap.

Now that I have been off this poison for over 6 years, I hope to help others as they join us

Hi SD and Welcome!

I agree with Gail - only 3 weeks on this crap - just quit while you're ahead!

It sounds as if you are already having nasty symptoms since going on the stuff...   I don't feel that it will be much worse in going off and it probably won't last too long.

Please feel free to come back with any questions you may have and keep us posted as to your progress!  I wish you the best and remember we are always here for you!

Liz

Sorry I have to disagree as I was a short timer on Crapalta and I went through he l l getting off it.

The first thing I would try would be to drop to 30 mg and see how you feel. If after 3 or 4 days you are fine then try without but don't throw out the pills as you may need to taper from there.

Depending on how sensitive your brain chemistry is you may be able to stop right now or you may have issues.

Which ever way you decide to do it just take it one day at a time and listen to your body and brain.

Hopefully you can stop quickly but if not then we are here to help in any way that we can.

Take care of you and be well

Nancy

I agree with Lady Nancy. You will know in a few days if the 30 is too big a jump or not.

Hi Everyone.  Good advice. I emptied one of the capsules to about half for my dose last night.  I don't feel much change other than a headache.  If there are side effects of withdrawal when will they show up?

Thank you for reading my story and the advice. I had no idea that this medication was so evil. I read about the side effects each time a new one showed up but I was so surprised to find out about the effects of withdrawal until I researched it and landed here.  Thank you, thank you! I feel as if most of the websites that have cymbalta information seem to downplay the side effects and I thought something was wrong with me for feeling so crappy on them.

Everyone is different but I would say give yourself 3 or 4 days. If you still feel good then I would go ahead and stop. If you get in trouble you can always go back on a real low dose. Your body will let you know.
