This will be far down the road for me, as I was reinstated to my full dose of Cymbalta at the end of April and am still experiencing withdrawals & slowly getting better.

 

Looking ahead, though, once I do feel OK, I don't want to start weaning too quickly. How long have other people given it before they start weaning the slow, appropriate way?

 

Also, as someone who has both depression and anxiety, I wondered if anyone here had been started on another antidepressant before they began their Cymbalta wean. This is something I will of course discuss with my psychiatrist when the time comes.

many on here have opted to slow come off the Cymbalta while they are slowly introduced to a replacement ssri such as Zoloft, Prozac or Lexapro. These three have longer half lives and not as traumatic withdrawal in general (for most). This is called cross tapering and many on here have had success with this process. Myself I went from Cymbalta to Zoloft and was going to stabilize on the Zoloft before weaning off of it but other health issues have come up instead. Long term that is still my plan.

How long did you (or others) wait after stabilizing to do the bead counting wean?

I started as soon as I thought I was stabilized but I probably should have waited a few days to make sure that I was.

 

I would suggest that once you are stabilized wait a couple of days to make sure then give it a try with just a couple of beads out of capsule for a few days. you will know soon enough if it was too soon.

If you feel fine then you will know that you can begin to bead count your way down.
