I haven't posted in a while.  Sorry about that.  I work most of the time just to keep the bills paid and sit counting beads
in the evening for the next week.

I've gotten from 60 mg to 50 mg successfully.  So now the doctor has to write a script for a 30 mg plus a 20 mg to reach

the 50 mg dosage.

But the 20 mg capsules had different sized beads, but fewer to count. ;)

The second time of getting that prescription filled, the beads seem to be the same size but the capsule color is different.

I continued with my 2-bead a day taper.  Within three days, I was having panic attacks.  Thank God that was the only

symptom.  Now it also could have been due to something else in my personal life but I've only had panic attacks in highly

stressed situation or when I tried to taper from Cymbalta two years ago.

So I took this week's capsules and put them all at the dose I had at the beginning of the week.

My best recommendation is that when the capsules change, take one full week to maintain that level because you don't know

if there is a difference in it.

Can I ask my pharmacy to only get the 20 mg. from one manufacturer?

As I understand, you are on two different generics. That is a no-no.
My doctor insists on this. But the pharmacist say that is not a big deal.

No mixing generics.

Ask for the same generic, change pharmacy if they don't have it. I had to do that.

My doc said that many times, she had to hospitalize patients because of the changing or mixing generics.

Yes, you can ask, but probably will have to change pharmacy. Good luck!

My Pharmacy always asks me if it is okay to fill a Rx with a different generic than I am used to.

I guess I am just lucky that I have a good pharmacist.

After counting the beads tonight, there are 10 less beads between the two.

It was the manufacturer that was different a month ago.

I guess I will only drop 1 bead a day for now since I've stabilized and see how that goes.

This pharmacy also has an automated system.  Both capsules this time came from Breckenridge.

Thank you for your insight!!

That amazes me that generics can be different when they are the "same" drug...but I know from personal experience that they can. Thanks Gail for helping to make that a bit easier to understand.TheEquusWoman

Yes, I have gotten my pharmacy to keep with the same manufacturer.

I'm officially down to 40 mg and still tapering smoothly.

When I get down to the last 10 mg. point, will I need to slow down the pace?

I started at 60 mg and have been on it for 10 years.

At 10 mg you can keep tapering as before if you wish. If symptoms emerge you are tapering too fast. Adjust as necessary, and even back up a bit.

Or, once you hit 10 mg you could double the timeline to arrive at 0 mg (if you had 2 weeks to go, make it 4). There is no hard science to this; it's trial and error. As you note, the last 5-10 mg need to be stretched out some. Again, the emergence of symptoms will dictate the rate.

You're doing great!

Take care.

yep, never, ever, ever mix generics from two different companies ... AND be very cautious about generic antidepressants, Cymbalta and everything else, in general ...

if you have even the tiniest doubt ... sense that a generic isn't working right ... just don't feel well ... stop taking it ... (the generic wellbutrin caused me to have a psychotic episode, and landed me in the "snake farm" for an enforced "vacay" ... that's how I ended up on crapalta )
