I am curious if anyone else has noticed that they are more susceptible to infection during withdrawal? For months I have been getting sore throats and a run down feeling. Then in September I got a very bad case of strep with two ear infections and now 3 weeks later I'm fighting a bad cold. Previously I rarely get any kind do of viral or bacterial illness.

Also, I noticed months ago that if I were to take Lorazepam daily for several days I was certain to get a sore throat. I take it sparingly now but I am suspicious that these drugs are lowering my immune system.

I love the amazing support and information sharing of this site. I don't know what I'd have done if this group were not here.

Now that I have been off this poison for over 6 years, I hope to help others as they join us

Hi Sleepyhead,

I can relate to the "run down" feeling - it lasted for months!

I never got physically ill, but others have mentioned it.

Be sure that you are getting plenty of rest - and sleep when you feel like it!  This is the time to be good to yourself and remember to drink lots of water.

I hope that you feel better soon. :)

Hi Sleepyhead

Stress always lowers the immune system and I can't think of anything more stressful than a protracted withdrawal. Lack of sleep, digestive problems and other issues would contribute as well.
