Okay. Is being particularly emotional a side effect while going off of cymbalta or is it because of my anxiety? I'm on latuda too so I don't know. It makes me want to go back on it because I'm crying at absoultey everything... jokes, commercials, music...

Hi nicolemarie

Yes this is a very very common side effect when going off Cymbalta. Don't worry it will subside. I was really emotional like that for the first few weeks off as well as when tapering off. Gradually it will go away although I must say that I am more sensitive than I ever was before but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Take care of you and be well

Nancy

I have to agree with Nancy on this. I think everyone goes through that stage as well as big emotional swings. You may want to slow down your withdrawal a few days in order to sort of stabilize before dropping anymore.

I'm on my first week completely off os i'd rather not go back on it. I'm just hoping my mood stablizes and I don't have to go on anything else.

I am on my 4th week off of Cymbalta & the emotions I believe have been the worse for me.  My doc weaned me to fast but I was also put on a new med called Brintellex, which in the beginning seemed to help me but the Brintellex played havoc on my stomach so after having an emotional breakdown at my mom's on Thanksgiving & having to leave early I decided not to take it anymore.  I was not aware of how much Cymbalta withdrawal would effect me as it has.  I will have an extreme cry atleast 3 x's a day & still have them.  If it wasn't for my husband I don't know if I could make it through this.  He keeps telling me to hang in there this will pass & when I do get the crying spells I try & tell myself that!!!  I feel hopeless, useless & so so so scared at points of this horrible drug.  My doc has called in a script for Wellbutrin but at this point I am to scared to take any other AD.  Everyday is different.  Monday was a good day but Tuesday wasn't as great.  I guess the only thing I can do is hang in there & try & help myself & others that are going through this.

Time and patience.  Get started on the Wellbutrin and hold on. It will kick in with time.

Now that I have been off this poison for over 6 years, I hope to help others as they join us

Hi Deb!

We're happy you found this forum!  The people here are wonderful - caring, helpful and we are all at different stages of the horrid withdrawal from the poison.

I have been off almost 23 months now and went cold turkey off of 60mg.  It was one hell of a 2014.  I understand everything that you have mentioned.

I am currently on Wellbutrin and have been since May.  I have found it to be a godsend, but we are all different.  Give it a try!  I had been off almost a year and a half and realized that I needed something.  We have a wonderful member here who hasn't been around lately, but he always said "quality of life" is more important than being able to say that you are med-free.

I wish you the best and please come back to keep us posted or to ask questions if needed.  We're here for you!

Liz

Thank you Liz.  I am glad to hear that the Wellbutrin is helping & I may start taking but going to give myself some time.  I am just so scared of taking anything anymore.  It's kind of nice to have a somewhat clear head but quality of life is important!!  Thanks again
