Thank you to everyone in this forum. You've really eased my suffering mind tonight. The diarrhea, headache, eye pain, pain behind my ears, the joint pain. Unfortunately I had an abrupt insurance change ad they refuse to cover my 120 mg dose in spite of my physician's appeal AND my pharmacist's. It's been two two weeks of being bed ridden, sleeping so much. When I am awake, I have to shield my eyes to watch tv. Ic ant eat anything due to the nausea. This stuff is poison and knowing that a slow taper is what was recommended , the anxiety just keeps growing every day I feel so lousy.

Welcome sg!

I'm sorry that you are being forced into this horrible cold turkey withdrawal - I went cold turkey off of 60mg in Jan of 2014 after taking it for about 4 1/2 yrs.  It is ugly, isn't it...

You are definitely experiencing the effects of withdrawal.  It is a nasty trip and the length of time is different for each of us.  The time on the drug and age seem to be a factor.  Those over 50 have a harder time we have found.

The best advice  I have to give is to just be good to yourself - sleep when you feel like it and don't push yourself.

At the beginning you need to give your body and brain time to try to repair themselves.

I'm sure you have read through some of the posts here so you are aware of what many have gone through on this road to hell.

Please feel free to come back to ask any questions you may have and remember that we are here for you !!

Liz

Snarkygirl,

I feel for you. Some pharmacists will offer you a reduced price option to pay for your medication. So, I don't know if that's a possibility for you, but you might look into it.

Sending positive thoughts your way.

Snarkygirl,

One more thought. Back a few years ago, I didn't have health insurance.  So, my doctor told me about Universal Drugstore. They carried generic Cymbalta that ranged from $52 to about $110, depending on what country manufactured it.

I was skeptical about getting medications from other countries, but I got over it. I usually ordered the one manufactured by Eli Lilly in the UK.

I thought you might want to consider these options--if you're comfortable--instead of cold turkey.

(Just make sure you place the order a few weeks in advance to be sure you don't run out of medication before the next batch arrives.)

Again, best of luck to you.
