Hello

I took Cymbalta for around ten years and stopped last December because i wanted to try different tablets. Things were going fine for around two months, i had withdrawals that were pretty brutal but common such as brain zaps and two weeks of rock bottom depression etc.

Things were going fine until I began to get a constant dizzy/off balance feeling in February while on Pristiq and it has not gone away, even after swapping tablets to Paxil. In fact now the dizziness becomes intolerable if i try to up any anxiety tablet above a small dose.

.

I've had my ears examined by a GP and a blood test and they came back fine. My Psychiatrist is skeptical about tablets effecting me months later but online brings up a lot of people complaining of long term side effects, so my question is: Do you think this constant dizziness is a side effect of Cymbalta? If anyone has dealt with this before how long did it take?

Thanks

Hi Matt

The dizziness is usually one of the first symptoms of Cymbalta withdrawal and while some of the symptoms can last for months usually the dizziness is one of the first to go away (2 months or less). There have been a few members that complained of it for a little longer but that is rare. One thing to mention is that the dizziness is usually accompanied by swooshing sound when you suddenly move your eyeballs from side to side.

Another thing is that your dr is not up to date. Since 2009 when FDA posted warnings about Cymbalta withdrawal they noted that in some people symptoms can last for 6 to 9 months.

It is also well known that many of the snri cause dizziness when first started especially if there is a drop in bp as well.

I hope this helps and please let us know how things turn out as that is how we learn.
