Bad stomach issues for me late last week. Had a drs appointment for a routine schedule so I mentioned it to her. I described the symptoms and she immediately diagnosed me with Toxic Squash Syndrome. It seems like most squash and some other vegetables contain a natural toxin and if eaten to much can even land you in the hospital and there has even been one reported death. I love acorn squash and this was a good year for them so I was feasting on them and pow!!! No more acorn squash for me. This condition is most common in Zucchini, bitter squash, and acorn squash but also exists in cucumbers and other vegetables. If you are interested in details you can read the websites below. The last one refers to COMMON toxins in other vegetables and is a must read article.  Interesting

Ah Fishingbrain, too much of a good thing...

It's interesting to know. And that will be replaced by what? Since you already are limited in many things to eat. Can you eat squash again without over indulging? Potatoes? Noodles?

I can eat squash again but the dr said once a week only. What amazed me is all the common vegeies that contain natural toxins. They are listed in the last half of that last document. It is no wonder people have so many ailments.

I have not read or seen that yet. Veggies? Many foods but not veggies, I may have missed that.

Wow!  I'm sorry to hear about your condition and hope you are feeling better.

Thank you for sharing this information.  Seems there's nothing safe to eat.....But eat we must.
