This is my first post here. Just found it this morning while desperate to find out more about the terrible affects I'm experiencing since abruptly stopping Cymbalta per my Doctors' orders and began taking Wellbutrin in an attempt to lessen or completely getting rid of the sexual side effects ie: erectile dysfunction caused by Cymbalta. I was not told by my doctor about ANY withdrawal effects from doing this! However, after 4 day's of vertigo, head-aches, nausea, dizziness, brain zaps, suicidal thoughts, increased depression and uncontrollable crying I searched "withdrawal effects from stopping Cymbalta" and was relieved to discover that I wasn't the only one!! I wonder how long I can expect these symptoms to last?? And is there anything I can do in the mean time to lessen the severity of the symptoms? I'm tempted to take some Cymbalta to feel better, but I know thats not the answer! Any advice would be appreciated!!

Welcome Thomas

It takes the Wellbutrin about 6 to 8 weeks to fully kick in. In the meantime I would try 50 mg of Benadryl (diphenhydramine), high epa/dha omega 3, stay well hydrated and some ginger for the nausea. You m ight also look through the thread "and the answer to your question is..." in the medical support section. It is a collection of what members have tried for different symptoms. You might find some additional ideas in there.

Hi Thomas,

Welcome, yes, the answer could be to reinstate Cymbalta to help you feel better.
And when stabilized, you bead count.

Your doc doesn't know better, he made go cold turkey, this is not advised at all.

Come back anytime, we're here for you!
