How are your flu-like symptoms going?  You might talk to your dr about a prescription for clonidine and/or hydroxyzine for the anxiety/panic attacks. Very effective, no withdrawal and few side effects. Also, there is  a thread called "and the answer to your question is..." in the medical support section that discusses the use of various col/flu medicines to help with the anxiety. Many of our members have had good luck with those. Just be careful to thoroughly read that info for some of the products can be incompatible with certain medications.

Marybetter,

How did you feel on the duloxetine 20 mg before you stopped it in September?
How long were you on it?
Why did you stop it then?

I understand that you are back on 20 mg in the last 3 months, is that right?
You want to withdraw because 20mg is not working? How are you feeling now on 20 mg?

Just trying to figure out your story and see if we could help you in a better way. Thanks!

Good question Gail. I sort of understood the same thing as you but not sure how going back on the 20 helped and in what way.

I would like to see an update as well. Maybe there is something else we can recommend  depending on symptoms.  I am worried about her too.

I am feeling much better -- those flu-like symptoms have subsided and my blood pressure went down; as did my anxiety and shivering.  My body is still leveling out from what i went through back in September-December of the on and off of duloxetine and prozac.  I am back on duloxetine since middle of December.  I need to stay on this on for probably another 3 months until I stop going through the waves and windows of withdrawal/side effects.  I will begin my taper in August but, I will see how I feel and take it from there.  As much as I want to get this poison duloxetine out of my body, I need to do it properly and slowly.  I don't want to put my body through anymore torment.  My brain is leveling and healing.

What are your thoughts?  THank you.

Mary

Oh and I went to the hospital last Friday and of course the doctors refuse to believe what I'm going through is from cymbalta and prozac.  They think cymbalta/duloxetine is a wonderful drug.  NOT!  It might help with some things but there are way too many side effects to stay on it.  I was sick last Wednesday until Saturday night.  I couldn't even calculate my money or remember what I last ate -- I couldn't sleep for fear of not waking up, shivers, tremors, breathing issues.  Very scary stuff.  Again, I'm much better now but I can feel the subtle on and off of feeling down a little bit (not depressed though); to memory issues, but the anxiety levels is good. THank you all.

Mary,

Yes, good plan to stabalize for while. Then think about the next moves.

You have Windows of good moments and they will improve. Quite an experience at the hospital. Ignorant doctors, it's a shame as the song says. The damage that some can do when it comes to cymbalta. Poor patients.

Mary, how privileged you are not to have major anxiety or depression. The memory thing will come back unless you are 85 or more!!!

Come back Mary, we want to follow you in your process of recovery. Thank you!

Hi Gail and Fishinghat,

Thank you both very much.  I'm recovering slowly but surely.  Yes, it is a shame that the doctors and the Emergency room can dismiss someones symptoms and just consider it all anxiety related.  Withdrawal and anxiety are different.  Am I correct in stating that?  I think anxiety might be a symptom of withdrawal though.  Not 100% sure.

I go away on holidays this weekend and when I return I will start my slow taper.  I'm on 30mg, so I have 14 days worth already calculated and in capsules.  Gail, my original symptoms for even starting cymbalta were for depression, anxiety and panic disorder.  I have to say that cymbalta has definitely helped for panic attacks and depression.  I am just such a healthy person, I want to see if I can go without an AD.  I will see how it goes.  Slow, steady and careful.  I'm not in a rush -- I will be done, when I get done.  One day at a time.  As long as I am patient, and kind to myself and nurture myself with good healthy things, I will be okay.  I've been meditating and very conscious of my breathing.  It helps a lot.

Okay, thank you two very much.

Regards,

Mary

You got it right.
