Well people, I made it 46 days cold turkey. I have now went to a new psychiatrist. Guess what? She told me that my withdrawal was not tapered down enough! I had went from 30 mg down to nothing as my previous shrink told me. So to stabilize me quickly, the new doctor gave me klonopin and 20mg/day celexa. I felt better immediately although I am ridden with worry about how long it is going to take for me to feel some joy and not take every bit of my energy to survive.

So, one of the theories was that my initial depression is back. But the 46 days off of Cymbalta were something that I had never experienced before. So little peace of mind. Unable to focus. Those 45 days were 10 times worse than how I felt before Cymbalta. I did have very few days of clarity and tried to be positive for everybody who posts here, but enough was enough. My old psychiatrist kept telling me to hold out, well, life happens and you can't live it if you are a basket case. Before I got an appointment with the new psychiatrist, I really thought somebody was going to have to take me to the hospital.

I will keep posting here, but it does seem from some research that tapering, switching to something that is not so hard to withdrawal from first then going off is the way to go. Some people can do the cold turkey thing, somehow I did for 45 days without killing myself in the process. I encourage everybody to get second opinions from doctors who keep telling them that they are going to be fine if they tough it out. There is support out there to ease you off of this anti-depressant.

Peace to all of you, again, my story is not what will happen to you, but if you feel a little crazy after a couple of weeks, by all means, get medical help from somebody who will not try to feed you more cymbalta.

Thanks for posting that information, I think it is wonderful to get all points of view. I'm glad your doctor is helping you, and remember when you feel down, that YOU are helping others here by posting what you are feeling, and what works for you. I think every piece of information is valuable, if it touches or helps just one person going through this.

May I ask what your specific tape plans are with the klonipn and celexa? I'm not familiar with those meds.

Thanks from me to you, and good luck!!
