Guys, my mom arrived as well, I'll tell them you said hi :)

So I dropped my psychiatrist that insisted on Zoloft, and saw another one. The current one told me everything about side effects and is currently making me do a fast taper which benefited me more than I can admit, to be honest. He said to reinstate to 30 mg Cymbalta, eventually.

Waiting game is not over I guess :)

"making me do a fast taper "

On the Zoloft I assume? I guess he/she thought this was a result of Zoloft side effects?

Do you plan on going back on 30 mg Cymbalta?

I don't like the sound of this stop/starting game that these p-docs are putting you through. It will take you longer each time you switch, the more you switch - at least that is the accepted phenomenon. The half life for the zoloft is ~30 hours, so it shouldn't be too much of a pain to flush through, but even so. I just hope you are sure they know what they are doing. I don't want you to end up like me with a gazillion meds going through your system!

And Mum is there now?! Hi Mum Oz!!!

Spot on with the side effects, FishingHat, I'm tapering the Zoloft and my symptoms are already improving? I have just a headache, manageable most of the time.
If Cymbalta works, I can do 30 easy. And if my cold turkey experience was an indication, it will be easy to manage now that I'm more knowledgeable and I have a good psychiatrist on my side.

IUN, the new psych said the same thing. He doesn't want me jumping around actually, "The side effects indicated that the med wasn't doing its job" which is true, and he saw no reason to put me through those any longer thus the fast taper, I believe. Symptoms cleared up? I want to believe I'm on the right track?

That's exactly what happened, IUN, I'm swamped with studies. As soon as I went off Zoloft I was better. And Cymbalta is helping me adjust, I think.

I will go through all of the threads. I missed you guys as well!

I'm not withdrawing but, do you want an update?

Hello!

I'm loving my new psychiatrist. Dude knows his stuff. Our plan was dropping Zoloft, no drugs for 2 days, 4 days of 15 mg C, and 30 mg C after. I was having anxiety attacks like clockwork everyday, so we reduced to 15 with 0,25 mg Xanax if needed.

Apart from the occasional stress and tiring stuff (which causes anxiety attacks), I am feeling much better.

Studies are still going well :)

Always appreciate an update!

Glad you are getting on with your new p-doc. This is a big part of the puzzle for sure. I've called mine about 15 times in the last 10 days and heard nothing!!

Keep that stress at bay as much as you can... such a big influence of anxiety.

Glad the studies are going well - I am sure this will aid progress in the MH department as well.

Hello!

I'm trying to reinstate C, and after 2 months of trying I see that I can't. Can't take 20 mg cause it's not enough, can't take 25 mg cause it's too much. And me being stressed does not help, either. I take Xanax to take the edge off, but I don't wanna rely on it.

Any suggestions?

If you can't get stable on the Cymbalta you may need to switch to a different antidepressant like Zoloft, Prozac or Lexapro.

Hey Oz!!

Great to hear from you. What Hat has said appears to be the next way forward. Just bear in mind that you will be switching between SNRI and SSRI, so although you have a small dose (and people say that the norepinephrine does not kick in until higher doses), there will be traces of the impact from this when you switch. The worst of it will be masked by the new drug as it kicks in, but you may find, like myself and others, that the old adrenal stuff starts playing up - but this too will pass.

And above all... watch that stress, girl! :)

Hi Oz,

Long time no see! I believe that Zoloft was tried. Leaves Prozac and so many others that we don't talk about.
PS, I had no side effects on Prozac, it didn't work for me.

If you are not afraid of gaining weight, there is Paxil. This is what I take, but with all the meds that I take, they are all prone to weight gain.

Let us know what you decide please.

Hello!! The psych decided on Paxil. I welcome the weight at this point. I'm slowly tapering the C and boy am I better already.

Taking Clonazepam with the current situation per the prescription. Hope Paxil will be the right one..?

I'm watching nor-E and E very closely. No panic attacks on my watch.

I try to make time for hobbies for stress relief but the thesis and paperwork... I hate paperwork.

I am glad you are feeling better Ozgun. Do you realize that Paxil is as hard to get off of as Cymbalta. B8t still, I am glad you are doing better.

Hello Ozgun,

Glad you're feeling better. Paxil, that makes two of us. By the way, I had no side effects on this one.

Yes, it's hard to get off, but we have a master mind here should we want to stop Paxil.

My man friend was on it, he couldn't get out of his house, he had anxiety all day. When he started, all vanished. For years till he died. He was a happy man. Thin as a fiddle.
