What advice can anyone give me? From the little I read just before posting, it might be a bad idea for ME to start taking this.
Thanks...

Whatever you decide to do regarding Cymbalta, I'd be getting another doctor if I were you.
For one thing, there's a list of side effects a mile long - as with all anti-depressants, an in fact virtually all all drugs. Doesn't mean you're going to get all or any of them, but forewarned is forearmed.
Both doctors and drug companies used to argue that to give people warning about the side effects meant that they would more than likely decide they had them - at least there's been some improvement in the way patients are treated compared with 40 years ago.
When/if you get your prescription, you'll get information listing the side effects, but you can get it off the net, too.
Be very wary of any doctor who utters a 'blanket' warning about the internet. Sure, there's lots of rubbish, but there's lots of good stuff, too. He doesn't seem to think much of your intelligence, which doesn't give me confidence that he works WITH you on issues, but rather just tells you what to do.
cheers, Maureen.

AllenAZ,Hi everyone...my doctor prescribed Cymbalta today for my panic attacks and anxiety. I asked him what the side effects were and all he told me was, you'd feel tired. Plus he told me to stay away from the internet...he knows from past conversations we've had that I would go there first. This is why... I have been off Valium for about 8 1/2 years now and still having a few problems. It was a nightmare getting off that drug...the withdrawals were REALLY bad...hurt my career and my life hasn't been the same.
What advice can anyone give me? From the little I read just before posting, it might be a bad idea for ME to start taking this.
Thanks...
I am awake now, and just want to say I Maureene reallly said the righ things to you!! For goodnesss sakes what kind of a doctor
would tell you not to read up on a medication that a person is going to take. I am wondering if he just might be one who is finding
out what's being said about Cymbalta.
I have been a nurse over 30 years, and we always tell our patients what we are giving them, the side effects, and so do doctors,
well they are suppposed to if they know about them.
What so many of us here have found out, and the hard way is that they don't know anything about this drug, the side effects, or
withdrawls, and especiallly how to get a person off this crap.
I lost 3 years of my life because of this drug, I am not the only one either. I became just like what the drug is know as "A Slug Drug"
I couldn't do anything at all. I had no feelings, nightmares, constipation, mass confusion, memory loss big time, very disoriented,
sweating, swelling in my feet, and ankles, anxiety so much more than I ever had before I got on Cymbalta, it creates anxiety!!!
I ended up just laying on my bed, staring at the TV, not really engaging in it. I also ended up with what I thought was such severve
untreatable depression, that I finally went back, and got really upset, and said I just can't live like this anymore!!!!!
This is when I got to find out about the withdrawls! He cut my dose in half, and by day 6 I really was losing my mind. I had the same
things I had had on it, but more added to it, and the other things just got more intense.
Here is the site that I give everyone, but also take the FDA report we have here to your doctor so that he can read that. They will
pay attention to theFDA. http://prozactruth.com/cymbalta.htm
Read lots of posts here, you will find out so much. Look at the amount of member's that belong to this site, and I also belong to another.
Do you think we would be here if we were not desperate. We have all come here because of the withdrawls, and what they were doing to us,
also we have come here from just being on the drug to ask questions to find out if we are crazy.
I would give anything if I didn't have to go through this, and alwo not know if I will ever be the same again. It can take 6 mo. - 2years to
get past the withdralws. Does this sound like a good drug?
Hope this helped.

Very glad to hear for a start that you'll be looking for another doctor.
There are plenty of brilliant doctors out there who'll work WITH you and get their greatest satisfaction from patients who want to be in control of their own good health and see themselves as the person to assist them with that.
Good luck with everything,
Maureen.

Thrilled your not going to take this med. I too have had to recover from many drugs, I am in
AA. I will tell you this, you think Klonipin was hard, they are comparing this to Oxycotin, but
worse! We can't be given any detox meds, and this can lawt 6 mo. to 2 years. Yes there is
improvement along the way, but talk about life damages!!! Just the same gig!, and then some.
