I am currently on Cymbalta after many years of other drugs including Zoloft, Wellbutrin and Effexor. I had a terrible experience coming off of Effexor that resulted only in my going back on, then changing to Cymbalta. I feel, at this point, that the drugs are causing as many problems as the initial depression did, and am looking at the possibility of coming off but am living this year in rural Italy and need some real support in considering this possibility and its consequences.

Hi Elaine -
Welcome. I am a longterm user (over 15 years) and am currently phasing off Cymbalta with support from homeopathic remedies. Down to 30mg every two days from 60mg a day. I expect to be off completely within a few more weeks, as my symptoms have been marginal.

I have had a very similar experience with extreme fatigue on Cymbalta, Effexor and even Zoloft. And I no longer believe it was depression. My energy has been much better since I've been reducing.

Keep coming back to this board - it's very helpful,.

Am trying to get off Cymbalta 30mg and wondering about brain zaps.

Hi guys,

well I was off the Cymbalta with 3 months and was doing well, but over
last few weeks have had lots of stress to deal with and I can find
myself slipping-not sleeping properly, No appetite, heart racing etc
so I've decided to go back on the cym at 30mgs and see how things go.
I dont want to go down the road of Dep again so better to nip it in
the bud as they say. Hopefully I can come off them again in the future
but for now despite my best intentions I need them.

Sorry to hear that. I'm assuming you didn't suffer from too many side effects when on Cymbalta? Have to say, now that I know how to safely withdraw/taper from the drug, it would be more the side effects when ON it which would deter me MORE from ever considering it again.

regards, and good luck, Maureen.
