In the future I would like to stop cymbalta

Dear Jamie:
I admire you, for your accomplishment so far. Going from 60mg to 7mg in 10 weeks, seems for me a fast weaning. (you must have decreased 6mg aprox per week).

Moods swings is a cymbalta withdrawal symptom. Maybe I´m not the right person to answer because I am on 45mg right now. But from my experience with other mental health pills, the horrible mental w/d symptoms dissapear.

I would like to know why did you take cymbalta in the first place??? are these mental symptoms that you have now different or additional to the ones you were having when you first took cymbalta?

I am very interested in your progress, since I took cymbalta 60mg for 5 years and I´m curious how your brain will adjust to be med free after 4 years of taking cymb.

From the stories I´ve read here, there is hope. I´ve read there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Keep me posted

Dear Jamie:
Your welcome! I hope my response will help you.
These 5 years that I was on cymbalta, I didn´t cry. Today after a few days of decreasing the dose, I felt like crying for a moment. Jamie, I think it is good to cry! and to feel! and to live!
I also do yoga (I love it!). I think it is the best therapy I am receiving right now. Keep up the exercise.

It´s good that you have your husband support. It is so hard for our families to understand what we have been going through.

Yes, doctors always decrease based on the available presentations (60mg,30mg)

Yes, I do agree Cymbalta is an effective antidepressant. However I feel that it is so effective that makes the brain lazy and used to it and once you stop taking it, the brain doesn´t know how to act and gets confused.

Depression is a very difficult illness. I also have suffered from it for many years. I know doctors say that we have to live with antidepressants. I want to think that is not the only answer for depression. In fact, I´ve experienced real improvements by eating healthy, exercising and doing yoga. I think if we take the "traditional medicine approach" and go to psychiatrist, we will find the same answer "take your medicine". However if you go to and acupunturist or homeopath they won´t say the same words. Acupunture cures while medications mask the symptoms. Homeopathy makes your body work and fight illness. That´s why I´m trying to be around specialists on other fields to complement my psychiatric therapy. As the book that you cited mentioned "life without medication/ chain brain chemistry without drugs". I do believe in that.

Yes, I understand how you feel alone in this, not wanting to tell others.

If you plan to get pregnant I think it is a good idea to wean off of cymb.

Keep it up! you are almost there. Just a few mg to decrease
Hugs
