It still amazes me when I see the "my doctor says there are no withdrawal symptoms" statement. How unfair to all of us. We are humans, we feel what we feel and for a doctor to discount us, well, it is just plain wrong. Look at what you have gone through with your time, money and all of the tests that I hope you really don't need.Hello. I am new to this site. I was weaned off of Cymbalta very quickly, and it will be five weeks tomorrow since my last dose. Has anyone else had terrible GI problems coming off of this? The GI symptoms are getting better, but everytime I think they are gone, they come back. My doctor says Cymbalta has no withdrawal effects, and is not the cause. Prior to weaning, I never had problems. I have been nauseous, cramping, bloated, and just plain miserable! My doctor sent me to a GI specialist who can find nothing wrong. Am I losing my mind?
I had GI problems, both on Cymbalta and off of it. Eating well helps, lost of spinach, salads and light foods. Try to stay away from red meat, pasta, things that are heavy in Gluten. I know that Omega 3 helps me with the GI/digestion area because when I didn't take it, my body reminded me that I needed to.
The GI stuff went away for me about two months in - sorry to give you this number, yours will be different because, you are you! My best not a doctor or scientist guess is that without the toxins of Cymbalta in your body being constant, your body is starting to rebuild and the nasty stuff in your GI tract is purging. It isn't comfortable, but I hope for you that by the time you read this, it has subsided already.

Yes. I had/have GI problems while on and during this withdrawal even worse. I have taken the advice I found here and started taking Omega-3. I still have the GI issues even with the Omega-3 but am not discounting it. It very well could be far worse if I stop the Omega-3. I am taking Immodium also through the withdrawals. This CYMBALTA drug is just plain poison and the "purging" from your GI tract theory is probably the best guess. Believe me, I for one know how horribly uncomfortable this particular withdrawal symptom is. I can't hardly eat anything I used to at this point. I have to make sure I eat small meals. I am almost "scared" to eat sometimes if that makes any sense. I have yet to go on an "exact" diet that you can find here or many other places on the net.
Best of luck to you.
You will make it.

I am going to my internist(GP) tomorrow. I can't handle the GI issues anymore. The brain zaps are far less frequent and less intense now. Day 19 cymbalta free.
She will probably send me to a GI specialist after talking to her today on the phone and run all the tests. I can't live like this anymore but I am NOT going back on this medication since this is what caused this mess in the first place. I CAN NOT TAKE IT ANYMORE. We shall see if she thinks cymbalta has these effects or not. I am sure she will just put me through the GI specialty tests and go from that point. I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF THIS. It is draining all the energy that I do have and I am just sick of it! SICK OF IT !
I can BARELY EAT ANYTHING without severe cramping and , well, diarrhea. No bloating, just loose bowels and severe cramping.
Peace to all.

if it turns out you do have IBS, there is a great site helpforibs.com that gives tons of pointers. Many times antidepressants help ibs, so when coming off cymbalta my GI problems came back. I am on a low dosage of lexapro now and it helps.
If you need any help with ibs questions, lemme know
