Hi, i have been taking Cymbalta 30mg per day for the last 7 days, but due to horrendous side effects my gp has told me to stop.

My question is will i experience any discontinuation effects after only being on it for a week? I have been given Mirtazapine to start from tomorrow night.

I was on Venlafaxine for 7 years and managed to get off that earlier this year (that was a hard few weeks) and i would rather not have to go through all that again.

Thanks for any help, Nick

The shorter you are on (to a point), the less your body has had time to become accustomed to the medicine. Your discontinuation effects should lessened. So the faster you change your mind, the better. Your doctor should know if your new medicine will ease the discontinuation effects; for instance I often used the cheaper (but with more urgent discontinuation effects) Effexor to ease discontinuation effects with Cymbalta when I could not afford it. Perhaps your new medication will help!
