Never been a coffee drinker. I prefer my caffeine laced with hight fructose corn syrup and lots of FIZZ! I've always drank too much Coke and that may very well have resulted in a magnesium deficiency that has caused the depression/dysthymia that drove me to Prozac and $ymbalta. I lived on Coke as a child. My mother NEVER let it run out. She even put it in my bottle! All that phoshoric acid probably wasn't good for a child.I am curious about people's coffee consumption before, during, and after taking Cymbalta. Let me know what works for you and how you think it affects you.
Researching Mg now. Links are posted below if anyone is interested.
Thanks for setting up this survey. Good idea!
Could it be MAGNESIUM?

I used to be an occassional coffee drinker, but I can't tolerate it at all during my withdrawal. It is because of the taste... I used to sometimes have a bowl of Cherrios for breakfast, but this morning the cereal tasted horrible...
I don't think it is a caffiene intolerance for me but this strange issue with the way food tastes.

I've been a coffee drinker my entire adult life (I'm 48) and I've noticed since weaning off this stupid drug from satan that coffee makes me too edgy. So I've had to switch to decaf.

Actually, the only reason I started drinking coffee was because of cymbalta. I'm pretty sure, after taking it since 2005, that its contributing to constipation problems, or at least exasterbating them. 5 days, 9 days, 11 days, 5 days, etc. I can't get 'parastalsis' without it, it seems. I've been involved with this a long time. I've tried alot of good advice by my doctor on fiber, stool softener, prune juice, exercise and more regarding the constipation. However, the only thing that finally initiates the final movement in my colon is if I have a very strong coffee on an empty stomach. I don't even like coffee. By strong coffee I mean a small mocha with 2 shots of espresso added to it. Then wait 30 minutes. Without the coffee, the only other alternative involves inserting in that area. (Sorry if this is too much information.) So, I'll keep stomaching the strong coffee for now.

Welcome savannarose!
We're so happy that you have found us!
You say that you stopped C. a week ago - are you tapering or did you quit cold turkey? How are you feeling in general?
Regarding the coffee - when coming off of this drug, we all seem to have found that our tastes have changed and for those of us that seemed to be drinking a great amount of alcohol while on it have stopped altogether. So many things are happening in your body and your brain is rewiring during this time.
Please post often to let us know how you are doing and feel free to ask any questions you may have, rant or whatever...this is a very safe place and no one will judge you. I don't know what I would have done without the wonderful people here on this forum. I just passed one year off the crap cold turkey - not a great year!
We're here for you and want to help!

Much research has been done and they all show that caffeine makes withdrawal worse in MOST of us. You have to consider they react on some of the same neuroreceptors as our medication. There is also some research that says one cup of caffeinated coffee a day helps with dementia and Alzheimer's risk. No opinion here, just saying.

Coffee contains caffeine which is a stimulant and increases any existing anxiety and makes it worse. If you are taking Cymbalta for anxiety you should not drink coffee.
Medical research
https://www.ncbi.nlm...pubmed/24933334
Coffee increase serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine and increases the effect of the Cymbalta.
