Author and teacher Julia Cameron created the Artist Date as a method of sparking the imagination. It is a strategy to refill the artist's well of creative tools, but the event may be used to simply re-energize the spirit.
For those of you wrestling with withdrawal, perhaps leaving the house for a few hours to see something that captures your imagination may lift you, just a little. So, go out and take a look! Visit a botanical garden, go see a play, or watch a medieval sword being forged.
ARTIST DATE
"The Artist Date is a once-weekly, festive, solo expedition to explore something that interests you. The Artist Date need not be overtly "artistic"- think mischief more than mastery. Artist Dates fire up the imagination. They spark whimsy. They encourage play. Since art is about the play of ideas, they feed our creative work by replenishing our inner well of images and inspiration. When choosing an Artist Date, it is good to ask yourself, "what sounds fun?"- and then allow yourself to try it."

I like this idea, my husband & I went for a long walk along the waterfront today & as hard as it was to leave the house, I soon got caught up in the activities of others doing their weekend hobbies .. It was great to feel the sea breeze on my face as well as smell the ocean salt .. Highly recommend it. :-)
