Info on Ashwagandha, also called Withania somnifera. This sounds very promising for EW as they say the plant smells like a horse!!  lol  Seriously, most of this sounds promising BUT the plant contains fairly high level of steroids and long term testing would be wise.

I can definitely seeing this being used short term during Cymbalta withdrawal to greatly ease the symptoms. I think it may have potential use for that.

Hi Fishinghat, I did use this for a week or so during my first 6 weeks of withdrawal.....based on some herbal remedy articles I'd found....I didn't look for/find any of these actual research articles.....anyway...I bought it as herbal tea...and I believe it was helping me greatly...but, I learned that it also can lower lower bp ...I wasn't sure I shld keep taking it, as this was right as my bp was normalizing post cymbalta......I was having fainting spells from low bp.... So I stopped using it...

And yes, it smells like a horse....a dirty sweaty horse....not that wonderful well groomed horse smell that I bet EW's Hershey exudes!

Instead of ashwaganda, I've switched to damiana herb tea....it lalso helps with anxiety...sort of smooths the ragged edges...and, it lowers bp, but just the systolic....which is what still runs a wee bit high for me...

I'm going to read the articles you've posted....very very interesting!

In fact, MSKC has a whole website devoted to herbs and botanicals....part of their "Integrative Medicine Service"

Thank you so much for your insight into this medicinal plant. I guess everything comes at a price.

I definitely think it's beneficial....just, as with all drugs, herbs, supplements etc ....we each have to research it for ourselves, consult with others here, anf use in small amounts initially....

I wonder if xiaojiie's TCM practitioner is familiar with either ashwagandha or damiana?
