    I want my life back!

Posted 11 September 2014 - 11:11 AM

This day always weighs heavily on my heart, mind and soul ... and in the run-up to it every year I feel anxious and sad ... this year perhaps more so than any year previously, I'm sure because I simply don't have any "defense mechanisms" left after the Cymbalta experience ...

In years previously, I've watched at least one of the videos of the event, and found it cathartic to let myself cry ... can't do it this year, it would break me apart ...

I don't know about you guys, but for me, 9/11/2001 marked the day ... the moment ... when life changed ... the world changed ... America changed ... hell, I changed ...

Don't have anything else to say ... just wanted to share this with you...

9-11 simultaneously broke and hardened my heart.

Many of us were left with the unsatisfying and wounded imagery of the Liberty Bell where our hearts used to be.

Unmitigated Iron Age barbarism and 7th Century morality came west to stay in the guest room. Do we lock our bedroom doors? Do we just clean up after them and concede they must have had a bad night? If behaviour follows beliefs, do we pretend these educated and well-off young men diverted from a liberal cosmopolitan and compassionate upbringing-- and suddenly made an about-face and embraced radical new-found beliefs, or do we affirm that indeed behaviour follows beliefs instilled from childhood?

There is a tiny nugget of value that might be uncovered among the twisted girders and broken bodies: Amid the despicable and unthinkable horror that was that day, some of the vulnerabilities of multiculturalism were exposed.

TM, I'm out of "likes" (why do we get so few?) ... but 1000 x like ... excessive "multiculturalism" is what leads to the unraveling of the fabric of a society, a civilization ... it's what happened to Rome ...

Shortly after 9/11 (the first one, 2001, not the 9/11/2012 with the murder of our ambassador and three other brave men) ... a friend of mine said to me ... "Islam is not the 'religion of peace,' it's the religion of pieces ... of bodies falling from the sky" ...

now we've got ISIL ... chopping off heads and crucifying ... by the way, it is "political correctness" that keeps the media/politicians from calling it ISIL and insisting that it's "ISIS" ... "ISIS" stands for "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" ...

"ISIL" is what they call themselves, and it describes their goals ... it stands for "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" ... the Levant is the old territorial part of the caliphate ... and includes Isreal ...

I'm not feeling "multi-culti" these days ...

"ISIL speaks for no religion. . . and no faith teaches people to massacre innocents. No just God would stand for what they did yesterday and what they do every single day. . ."

"Now let's make two things clear: ISIL is not Islamic. No religion condones the killing of innocents. . . ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple."

President Barack Obama

It appears we are indeed sleepwalking toward Armageddon.

Well, Islam does not consider infidels to be "innocents," killing an infidel earns merit points ... I could post the citations from the Koran's Sura & Verses to support this and refute what obama says ... but this isn't the right forum for a full discussion.... will just mention that this is the president who can recite the Koran from heart, is the son of a Kenyan Sunni Muslim and step-son of an Indonesian Sunni Muslim (ISIL is Sunni), was educated as a child in a(Sunni)Muslim madrasa, and has said that (I have the source citations)...

“The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam”
"The sweetest sound I know is the Muslim call to prayer”
“Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation”
“We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.”

I couldn't agree more! Innocence (and innocents) is (are) in the eye of the beholder, and that eye is built by the beliefs and values of its culture. While I am (as you know) a doomed, pathetic, and godless heathen, it doesn't escape me that there are no Quaker, Mormon, Protestant, Catholic, Jain, Buddhist, Sikh, Hindu, Jewish, or Rastafarian suicide bombers. Clearly the holy books contain different sets of instructions.

You're right-- nuff said.

TM & FN, Am I reading your *quotes* to be from Ovomit?! If he has made these statements, are 'We the people' so apathetic or "busy" that we will soon wake up, literally, to a new USA (Unwanted Socialism of America!) or worse?! God help us:/

Hi-- long time no see.

Yes, indeed those quotes I gave are from Mr. Obama. The first one is from his speech after the murder of James Foley, and the second is from yesterday's "Still Working on a Plan" speech regarding the Islamist terrorists ISIS.

Yes, Cym... those are direct quotes ... I have the exact sources/citations to back them up ... tip of the proverbial iceberg ... I researched him thoroughly in the run-up to the 2008 election, knew full well what we were getting, but nobody believed me back then ... now we've got all these public statements, so I don't need to "spout off" anymore ... it's self-evident ...

TM ... you are my favorite heathen! :)

Hmmm TM, if you are "a doomed, pathetic, and godless heathen," where do you find hope or purpose with each dawn of a new day? I am sincere in asking as I am existing in a seemingly bottomless pit of depression with feelings of 'doomed & pathetic' but not godless...I don't want a religious debate nor to challenge your beliefs, as I respect and honor your posts along with your wisdom & compassion, but what is your hope beyond the flicker of time we are living on this earth? If you do not want to answer, I respect that...just a seeker here in Life 101;)

I am out of breath cuz I am trying to meditate but my breathing is labored, maybe too much wine?!

Thank you for your question.

I find hope and purpose in art, music, literature, philosophy, and science. I find hope and purpose in fostering the flourishing of conscious creatures. I believe in friendship and love; I believe in life, and I believe in death. I accept that the responsibility is ours to make the world a better place.

If I could say something that would brighten your spirit, or elevate you an inch above your depression for even a moment, that would give me joy. My life is blooming with hope and purpose, and I completely understand it.

Perfect! Could I perhaps interest you in a "love-in" ala John Lennon/Yoko Ono style? You could be the philosopher and I'll give peace a chance, then we could get down to what comes up first:) Oh, I miss those days when I stood up for what I believed and felt hope that my actions were a noble cause!!

My positive for today is that on this day 13 years ago I was in a mental hospital. I know that doesn't sound like a positive but being in such a highly medicated, dissociated mindset, I couldn't comprehend the reality of what was shown on TV.
I remember thinking how devastating it was if it were real but to me it was just TV. Not real. Everything would be back together when the "show" was over.
I was spared the reality of it all. By the time I was well enough to realize that it did indeed happen, over a year had past and it was only on the anniversary that the video was back on the news.

The further away from a traumatic event you are, the less likely you are to be traumatized by it. I was spared the initial impact.

My heart goes out to all of you who were able to understand the events of that day. Reality as we knew it has changed forever.

God bless

No love-in stuff here, just a universe of cause and effect. Peace needs to be reasoned, earned, and negotiated-- just like any other interactive abstraction-- like love, respect, and honour. I think the truth is a noble cause, and it's within the reach of each of us.

I never was a big Yoko fan, though I think John Lennon had one of the best rock'n roll voices ever. He wrote some great songs: 42 years ago he asked us to imagine no religion, nothing to kill or die for; he asked us to imagine all the people living life in peace.

Not bad.

Me too. That was a tough one.

If we'd taken John's advice in '72 there wouldn't have been a 9-11, and we wouldn't be headed back to kill and die in the Middle East.

A few cheerful examples of the religion of pieces, excerpted from the Statement issued today by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (architect of the 9-11 terrorist attacks), and other Guantanamo Terrorist detainees, defending the actions taken on 9/11/2001 .... (I rest my case.)
http://justpaste.it/September11

". . . killing you and fighting you, destroying you and terrorizing you, responding back to your attacks, are all considered to be great legitimate duty in our religion. These actions are our offerings to God."

"In God’s book, he ordered us to fight you everywhere we find you, even if you were inside the holiest of all holy cities, The Mosque in Mecca, and the holy city of Mecca, and even during sacred months.

In God’s book, verse 9, Al-Tawbah [sura 9]: Then fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, and besiege them and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush."

"Our prophet was victorious because of fear. At a month distant, the enemy did not hear from him. So, our religion is a religion of fear and terror to the enemies of God: the Jews, Christians, and pagans. With God’s wiling, we are terrorists to the bone. So, many thanks to God."

"The Arab poet, Abu-Ubaydah Al-Hadrami, has stated: We will terrorize you, as long as we live with swords, fire, and airplanes."

Oh, and have you ever wondered why the date "September 11" was chosen for the WTC/Pentagon, and the attack on our Ambassador & staff in Libya?

Payback ... it was on September 11, 1683 that the Ottoman Empire (what ISIL now intends to rebuild) was defeated at the gates of Vienna, beginning its great decline ... http://www.historyne...vienna-1683.htm

"Vienna, wrote one despairing Ottoman historian, had been a defeat "so great that there has never been its like since the first appearance of the Ottoman state." . . . And although neither he nor any of his contemporaries, Christian or Muslim, may have fully realized it, [the Ottoman ruler] Mehmed's failure was to be the first step in the steady but inexorable decline of what had for so long seemed the unstoppable advance of the Ottoman Empire.

After Vienna, the relationship between Christendom and Islam began to change. For centuries, the Christians had attempted to keep the Muslims at bay and, if possible, to recapture areas, most notably Palestine, that they considered to be sacred to their religion. Now, as Ottoman power visibly weakened, it became possible to imagine not merely limitations on Muslim power but its eventual elimination."

Good work.

When someone tells you who they are, then shows you who they are-- why do so many people in the west still not believe it? They are a hair's breadth away from acquiring nuclear weapons. Do you have any doubt that they will use it? The Israelis believe it.

Nope, no doubt. Actually, based on all my reading and research, I believe they already have nukes .. small perhaps, but they've got them ... they've got all the military equipment (vehicles, weapons, you name it) that we left in Iraq, plus the $$$ from the Iraqi National Bank and the others they took over ....

http://www.bloomberg...-never-had.html ..

They've also got those 11 Libyan airliners that they "acquired" when they took the airport in Tripoli ...

http://www.dailymail...nniversary.html

(although some media reports are now saying that didn't happen)

And, they're coming into the US freely via our wide open southern border ... Border Guards have found Korans, prayer rugs, and Arabic-English dictionaries ...

Okay, now I really am going to stop here. I have zero control over any of this. Sure do wish I still had my red boxing gloves .. that'd show 'em :P
