I have moved back to my home state after 7 yrs away. New Dr.!!! I hate starting over getting to know a new Dr. However, Thank God!!! I really thought all of the symptoms I was having were in my head. When I first started taking Cymbalta it was wonderful. I told my Dr. I never new I was suppose to feel anything different than depression and anxiety it had been apart of my life since childhood. But now after almost 1 yr. it's not working anymore. Without going into detail of my symptoms let me just tell you I can relate to everything anyone has said on here about how they feel on this med. Wow!! It's nice to know it's not just me!! So with my new Dr. and counselor we are going to wean off of this DRUG!! I say we because the two Dr's I am working with are so compationate and check up on me weekly and have made me feel like they are in this with me!!! So, I am at 60 mg. Starting 2 days ago I am to take 60/30 for a week. then down to 30 for a few weeks depending on how well I do. I have missed a few days in the past and I am so scared of what the future brings!! So far the nausea is discusting but I've been dealing with it for many months anyway. The brain zaps wow!! Also my hips have started to ache. Not sure what that's about. I'm super sleepy. I can't drive in the car without the window down or I get so sick. I'm super hot then freezing!! Yuk!! I will see the light at the end of the tunnel!!!

We'll hang in there with you through the countdown!!
Re the hip pain, I've been thinking about the pain stuff and Cymbalta. One of the things (or should I say about the only thing) it seems to be an excellent drug for is what's known as Diabetic nerve pain.
Coming off Cymbalta I haven't had as much of the pain as others have had, but I also haven't been on a high dose, but what I have noticed is that pain has returned in places Ihaven't had for ever. One was a mashed muscle from a motorbike accident in 1978! (pain there again for a week or so); another was pain on the pubic bone, which I last had when I was pregnant (so not for 17 years); another was aching in the joints in my hand which I haven't had since I had encephalitis at 13 (I'm now 57!!).
The first lot I didn't think anything of; the second lot made me suspicious; the third lot convinced me it was Cymbalta withdrawal. I'm wondering if, IF, the Cymbalta itself, given it's nerve pain relief reputation, is actually being 'attracted' to these vulnerable areas of our body, then when its withdrawn, our body objects strenuously. Even if you say you've never had pain there before, doesn't mean that it WASN"T a vulnerable area of your body and may be an issue in the future.
A complete stab in the dark from me with that one.
Have to say most people have had more success with a gradual tapering (as in 60 to 50 to 40 etc) rather than 60/30 alternating. If they want you to alternate the 60/30, they may want you to alternate 30/none at some stage too, which was terrible for me.
I tolerated that for a few terrible weeks, then after reading the advice here, changed to 15mg per day - what a difference!!
Many well intentioned doctors think that tapering this drug is the same as tapering (er) steroids - it's not.
If you have compassionate doctors you're half way there, but do keep in mind that doctors are only given what the drug companies want them to have; the rest is up to us.
take care, Maureen.

All I can say is to read the withdrawl symptoms at httpa://prozactruth.com/cymbalta.htm
You will e very surprised in what you will find there, and that is one of the symptoms of withdrawl.
Also I was told yesterday that people with Chronic Pain have more severe withdrawls coming off this stuff.
I have that, so maybe he is right. I balked at first, but boy I just can't do the withdrawls, just the smallest
decrease kicks my butt.
Kepp on trying you will make it.
Love,
Debbie
