Hello Gail and TFL ! DC is sweltering ... made the mistake of going out to do errands / stuff yesterday ... OMG ... blech ... today I'm doing laundry .... almost as bad, cuz the laundry room in my building isn't air conditioned during heat waves... the a/c system here is the original one, from 1953 (!) and in order to keep our apartments cooled in heat waves, they have to shut down most of the public / common areas ....

I have to venture back into the laundry room to put stuff in the drying and put in 3 more loads of wash ... most of the machines (the ones that aren't broken) are being used by a couple of Hispanic ladies ... they've had about 5 machines going non-stop all afternoon ... either they're doing laundry for other folks as a way of earning $$$, or they've got ginormous families ...

Hispanic laundry ladies were gone ... replaced by a trio of hunky Ukrainian lifeguards .... my building (actually every pool, restaurant, and resort in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area) hires them for the summer ... (American kids no longer want to do "service work," so these kids come here, get free room/board, a salary, and a chance to practice their English) ... anyway, I digress ... said hunky lifeguards are soooo easy on the eyes ... so I dilly-dallied in the laundry room for a bit ...
