I started at 25mg last week and will raise to 50mg as from today... I'm in a little hurry because I do want to quit C ASAP.

Hi HTSP,

So quiet on the forum today so I thought that I would come by to say Hello!

Your right Gail. I was trying to say go up to 100 mg at 25 mg/week increments.

Thanks for catching that.

My doctor told me to go to 50mg zoloft and then lower C to 20mg. Shouldn't I go first to 100mg before lowering C guys?

That is not typically the way drs do it as they worry about too much antidepressant in the patient's blood and possible serotonin syndrome. This leads to some withdrawal from the C while you wait for the Zoloft to kick in. Going to 100 mg Zoloft first and staying there for 4 or 5 weeks til it kicks in would avoid the withdrawal but would definitely run too high a risk of serotonin syndrome. I would stick with the drs plan.

Friday and Saturday were pretty okay but today I was apathic and had severe tinnitus. My zoloft is working I think because I havent had any anxiety attacks since last Thursday. I didn't had any clonazepam since then!! Another 10 days and I can lower C to 20mg... I can't wait.

And you Gail?

Hey, that is good. When not at work, I feel that we have time to feel anything that is not really comfortable!

I also feel that Lamictal is working, though I still have my moments of near hell. Like this afternoon, existential questions and questioning life's purpose that bring anxiety or is it that anxiety brings up those questions? Exhausting, to say the least!

Bref, contente de voir que CA se deroule assez bien pour toi! Tinnitus is real commun.
Thanks for the update!

My tinnitus started with taking Cymbalta though so it's a side effect I believe. Don't you think?

Common as both a side effect and a withdrawal symptom.

Sorry, I can't answer this. Look through the archives, you might find something interesting.

Mine started around 46 years old after a bad cold. In the first days, I thought that I would lose my mind. Got used to it. Not related to any meds.

Or it stops or you will get used to it with time.

I used to say that it was God whispering good things in my right ear. You just got to hold on to something positive in those times, that was my way!

I can't remember who posted this at some point, but I remember several members suffering from tinnitus during withdrawal and it eventually went away...

Cannot guarantee this, but it gives hope

Liz, I remember that FiveNotion, Thismoment and others had a long conversation about that. I know that it took FiveMotions months and months to clear up and Thismoment was still having issues after 2 years. Many cleared up in a few months if I remember right.

When are you going to 100mg if you are?
When are you planning to reduce the Cymbalta?

50 mg is a low dose, and it's still early to feel it. Patience, you got your work to keep your mind occupied, this prevents you from over thinking.

I agree with Gail. Too early to tell. Another 2 weeks or so. Just work your dose up nice and slow.

It's so tense around my heart and that part of the chest... I can't wait to lower. I will do that as from Thursday.

The tightness in the chest area is from what they call a chronic adrenergic state. During periods of high continuous stress your body releases an access of adrenaline which causes the tightness in the chest and even chest pains as well as heartpounding, skip beats or other heart irregularities. This will subside as you get your anxiety under control.
